My Favourite Contemporary Photographers Part 1

I've always had an interest in photography, borrowing my mum's camera as a child to take pictures. I've developed this in my teenage years, finally purchasing my first DSLR (a Nikon D3200) and attending a course on photography last summer. A lot of photographers influence my work so I thought that I should write a blogpost on this, spread the love and all.

Ignacio Torres

The first photographer I have to mention is Ignacio Torres. His work is absolutely incredible and you may have seen some of it if you are a fellow Tumblr addict. One of his projects entitled 'Stellar' features images which have been turned into .gifs to give them the effect of movement. I love these, they completely stand out against other photographer's works as they're a little different. This photographer has also worked with Bastille recently to produce several shots of the band as well as the cover art for 'Bad Blood.'

Julia Fullerton Batten  - Hallway 2008

The second photographer I have chosen is Julia Fullerton-Batten. A German/American contemporary photographer whose work is absolutely astounding. The above piece has to be my favourite piece of art by her, I love the amount of detail in the photograph. Her works have an almost surreal feel to them, especially her series 'In Between' whereby all of the images feature a girl suspended in mid-air.

Daniel Radcliffe by Martin Schoeller.

Martin Schoeller was one of the first photographers whom I discovered and I have been in love with his works ever since. Some of his celebrity portraits, such as the one above are absolutely hilarious. However, I am also completely in love with close up portraits, there is so much detail in the photographs and they're truly beautiful and I thoroughly urge you to go check out his work! His work has been described as being "hyper-detailed" which I agree with, as well as that in his close up portraits he always manages to make the eyes of the subject to look absolutely beautiful. I would love the chance to see his work in an exhibition and I hope to do so one day!

So those are my favourite photographers, I hope you found someone whose work interests you or influences you like these artists have influenced me!
